Bouchard Pere & Fils, Chassagne-Montrachet 2017

About the Wine:
Intense floral and fruit aromas on the nose. Full-bodied, rich, and smooth, this wine has a very lingering aftertaste and great aging potential. Recommended pairings include fish and white meat in cream sauce.
About the Producer:
Bouchard Pere & Fils is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, passing down production traditions for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations. During the French Revolution, when clergy and noblemen’s properties were confiscated and put up for sale, the founder’s son took the opportunity to purchase more land to expand the growing operation. During the 19th and 20th centuries they managed to acquire land in some of the best Cote d’Or Villages. Currently, the estate includes 130 hectares of vines and 12 of which are Grand Cru classified and 74 Premier Crus.
On the property is the Chateau de Beaune, a former royal fortress that was built in the 15th century. Its cellar is where the Bouchard family stores and ages their wines, due to its perfect and consistent aging environment.
Technical Info:
This wine spends 8 to 10 months in French oak, with up to 10% new oak, depending on the vintage, and 2 to 3 months in stainless steel vats.
