Brown Estate, Chardonnay House of Brown California

About the Wine:
Crisp and clean, their Chardonnay showcases aromas and flavors of guava, gooseberry, lemon verbena, a touch of tropical fruit.
About the Producer:
As the very first Black-owned winery in Napa Valley, Brown Estate has been producing stunning wines since the 1990’s. Even before that, they were farmers growing grapes for others to produce easy sippin’ wines. Dr. Bassett and Marcela Brown decided to purchase property in 1980 with intentions of raising their children in a relaxed and rural environment. Five years later they planted 10 acres of fruit and began selling. It wasn’t until their children, Deneen and David tasted the wines produced by others from their parents’ grapes, that realized their family needed to utilize their own grapes and go into production themselves. It wasn’t until 1996 that they produced their very own vintage on property. Their land has some unique microclimates inlayed by the Vaca Mountains and cooled by the Pacific Bay breezes. They take pride in their wines as they reflect a sense of place, showcasing the terroir rather than manipulating the grapes.
