Grosset, Riesling Polish Hill Clare Valley

About the Wine:
The 2014 Grosset Polish Hill Riesling surprises lemon blossom aromas bursting from the glass. The primary flavors are pure lime juice and lemongrass before a finish that has a surprising softness. Certainly, there’s refreshingly dry and vibrant cleansing acidity and some shaley minerality on a finish of remarkable persistence and length.
About the Producer:
Five decades of a small family operation began in 1981 when founder, Jeffrey Grosset purchased an old milk depot in the historic part of Clare Valley. The estate is certified organic and biodynamic, and the wines are vegan friendly, meaning not eggs are used for fining or filtering! They invest in solar energy and work to reduce their carbon footprint. Each year, 5% of dividends are donated to charities that support the arts, research, and the environment. They focus on single vineyard wines and each vine is hand pruned and all grapes are hand-picked. 
Technical Info:
The eight-hectare Polish Hill vineyard is at 460 meters altitude. The infertile, shaley soil is slightly acidic and its topsoil has a clay and shale crust. The vines must work hard and so produce smaller distinctly flavored and concentrated berries.
