Hyland Estates Pinot Noir Old Vine Single Vineyard, McMinnville 2020
About the Wine: Unadulterated, elegant, acid-driven wines that will bring you to the vineyard with each smell and sip. This wine is enjoyed with one of man’s favorite foods: bacon. It is recommend to pair with either bacon wrapped scallops or for you red meat lovers, a bacon wrapped Filet Mignon where the salty savory notes from the swine can perfectly match with the sweet fruit and tea spices that emerge from the wine. About the Producer: As one of the oldest wineries in Oregon, they celebrated 50 years in 2021. The Hyland Vineyard began planting in 1971 by four determined friends with the help of Oregon wine industry pioneers Dick Erath and Charles Coury. In all, the vineyard is comprised of 185 acres of own-rooted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling & Gewurztraminer. Half of the vineyard is farmed biodynamically and the other half organically. These Riesling vines were planted in 1972, 1974 and 1979 and remain on their own roots. Technical Info: 94 POINTS | WINE ENTHUSIAST | EDITORS’ CHOICE. The gentle slopping bench of hyland vineyard is nestled in the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range just north of the VanDuzer Cooridor. This location is cool, yet uniquely isolated from extreme weather events. Resulting in a long and moderate growing season which allows our vines to have the full experience of each vintage. In the vineyard they focus on the soil and it's biodiversity by biodynamically farming each of the founding blocks. In the winery they focus on getting out of the way and let the fruit of each block become the wine it wants to be.
