Rockpile Ridge Vineyard, Zinfandel, Sonoma, CA 2018

About the Wine:
Candied cherry and plum; dark cocoa; ground roasted coffee; savory dried herbs and sweet earth. This incredible iteration of Rockpile Ridge Zinfandel is singularly defined by its detailed texture. It’s vibrant, yet concentrated; elegant, yet bold; velvety, yet powerful. Then it ultimately resolves into a seamless and persistent finish. This energetic Zin will benefit from at least 1-2 years of bottle age. Enjoy over the next 10-12 years.
About the Producer:
Six generations and more than 150 years of family farming is the story of the Mauritson family. They began growing grapes in 1868 and were pioneers of the Rockpile region. They would sent back their yield to Sweden, until some years later, the farm was devoted to sheep grazing. It wasn’t until the mid 90’s when Clay Mauritson decided to pursue a winemaking education and add that to the family operation. Today, they still grow and sell some of their grapes to other regional growers beside producing their own wines from their 8 distinct blocks across 34 acres.
