Sijnn Red Malgas 2015

About the Wine:
A vibrant deeper red color. On the nose it is savory and wild, with red berries, lavender, thyme, and rosemary. It is inky and wild but has a beautiful freshness, and concentration on the mid palate. It has a meaty character, entwined with rich dark spice and chocolate. It is elegantly powerful with a youthful freshness, yet a deep concentration, and a structured firm tannin profile, making sure this wine will last for many years. A beautiful lingering flavor remains on your palate, long after taking a sip. Best drinking 2023-2030. This wine will pair well with a richer red meat dish, red wine risotto or any matured cheese.
About the Producer:
Sijnn Wines come from the Malgas region in South Africa, which is the only first growth appellation in the region! It was created by David and Rita Trafford who set up shop in 2000, when they first visited the area and discovered how incredible the soil profiles were. By incredible, I mean poor, which is the perfect type for grape vine growing. The poor soil and dry climate make the vines struggle and produce low yields, resulting in concentrated grapes and small production wines! The name Sijnn comes from the Khoisan word for “riverbank.”
